The 3-month pop-up on New York's Lower East Side was a pretty great experience. To write that I learned a lot curating, installing and managing the art and space on the corner of Grand and Orchard Streets would be an understatement. Here are a few things that I learned; I love the Lower East Side (specifically Orchard St!) Mostly artists visit galleries (specifically artists seeking a venue in which to show their work) and new collectors need solid, practical information (specifically, how to get started.)
While I have opinions on the second topic - I intend to title one blog "Artists; You're Doing it Wrong" - I'm devoting this space to those who love art and are thinking they'd like to collect it. New Collectors. Perhaps this describes YOU. Or someone you love. Or someone you work for. Etc.
Please check out my blog every two weeks or so for new information and ideas concerning the ins and outs of collecting. I'll also provide occasional show reviews and other relevant data. It will be well-written and topical. And sexy. It will be sexy. In a wow-I-really-love-how-Shannon-knows-all-this-stuff-about-art-yet-she's-so-accessible-not-hard-to-comprehend-at-all kind of way.
Happy New Year!
